Long School of Medicine

Margot Favret

About me

I was born in New Orleans, but moved to Texas when I was in high school. I went to the University of Texas at Austin for my undergraduate. I was initially interested in research, but I wanted to help people more directly, so I pursued a career in medicine. I took a gap year working as an Emergency Room medical scribe in Austin before attending medical school. I am mainly interested in Family or Internal Medicine, and I am really interested in health education in my community.

Hobbies/Interests

Music, hiking, playing with my dog Gus, and photography

Topics I feel comfortable talking about

I am happy to talk about my gap year, what life in medical school is like, work-life balance, the application process, and how to talk to your family about medical school. I am also happy to talk to anyone interested in talking to a woman in medical school and what that experience is like.

What I hope to gain from this experience

I would love to just serve as a mentor or guide to anyone that wants perspective from someone in medical school. I remember how stressful and daunting it can feel to be pursuing medical school, so I want to give back and help you in any way I can.
