Student Leadership Development

The Student Success Center is committed to developing future nurse leaders by providing students with meaningful leadership opportunities throughout their academic journey. 

Student leadership provides opportunities to build professional skills, collaborate with peers and faculty, advocate for fellow students, and contribute to the continued growth of the nursing community. Getting involved is a great way to enhance your nursing experience while developing the confidence and leadership skills needed for a successful career. Whether serving as a class officer, student organization officer, committee representative, or volunteer, students have many ways to get involved and make a positive impact within the School of Nursing. 

Nursing Student Council

Nursing Student Council (NSC) is comprised of members of all university-sponsored organizations and aims to enhance student life, promote collaboration, and provide students the voice they deserve. Independently, and in collaboration with various school groups, NSC initiates, sponsors and directs school events, activities, campaigns, and programs from the student perspective. As the elected student leadership of the school, NSC works to represent the concerns and opinions of the student body to the school and to school administration. 

Class Officers

Class officers serve as the voice of their cohort by representing classmates, fostering communication, and promoting student engagement throughout the nursing program. They work closely with the Student Success Center Staff, Nursing Student Council, and faculty to share student feedback, support class initiatives, encourage participation in events and opportunities, and help build a collaborative and connected cohort experience.

Peer Support Leaders

The Student Success Center offers many opportunities for students to assist their classmates academically. They can lead as a Peer Mentor, Tutor, and Peer Assisted Learning Sessions (PALS) leader.

Committee Student Representatives

Students are asked to provide voices on several Nursing and UT Health faculty and student committees. These representatives sever as advocates for the entire student body on matters such as undergraduate and graduate academic policies, admissions policies, simulation policies, student service policies, and etc.
