Point-of-care Ultrasound Faculty Development Workshop

Total 16.0 hours of CME credit 

Objectives
  1. Improve point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) faculty’s teaching skills of common clinical applications of the heart, lungs, abdomen, and vascular system.
  2. Develop POCUS faculty’s knowledge and hands-on skills to perform specific advanced clinical applications (details per agenda).
  3. Provide opportunities for peer-to-peer feedback and networking to continue growing a community of POCUS experts who can serve as faculty and institutional leaders in POCUS.
Target Audience
  1. POCUS experts with proficiency in basic POCUS applications who routinely teach novice users image acquisition, image interpretation, and clinical integration skills.
  2. POCUS experts seeking to expand their professional network through peer-to-peer instruction and feedback.
  3. POCUS experts who serve as institutional leaders and seek to advance their skills in POCUS program development.

Adjunct Faculty Role – January 30-31, 2025

  • POCUS Faculty Development Course participants are highly recommended to serve as adjunct faculty during the basic adult or pediatric POCUS courses held on January 30-31, 2025, at the same location.
  • Participants will have the opportunity to teach alongside expert POCUS faculty who have excelled as POCUS educators and are leaders in the field. 
  • Peer-to-peer feedback has been an invaluable experience for faculty development. 
Registration:

Required Experience: This course is recommended for POCUS faculty and leaders who have:

  • >3 years of clinical practice experience using POCUS as an attending physician
  • Teaching and leadership responsibilities in POCUS at their institution
  • Proficiency in basic multisystem POCUS applications

Registration Fees:

  • Total course cost is $825 (includes pre-course work, online sessions, and 1 day in-person session in Austin on January 29, 2025)
  • Course Credits: Up to 16.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM and 16.0 points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program

Cancellation:

  • Course registration is non-transferable and may not be applied toward future UT Health San Antonio CME courses. Partial refunds of 75% of the course registration will be provided for cancellations 60 days prior to the course. Partial refunds of 50% of the course registration will be provided for cancellations 30 days prior to the course. Partial refunds of 25% of the course registration will be provided for cancellations 14 days prior to the course. No refunds will be provided for cancellations less than 14 days or for no-shows.
  • Those who have last minute cancelations due to unforeseen circumstances or Acts of God (illness, canceled flights/ weather related, major family emergencies, etc.) will have the option of a 50% reimbursement of registration funds or a one-time transfer of your registration to our next POCUS CME Workshop.
