Conference Overview

The 3rd Annual South Texas Updates in Gastroenterology and Hepatology is the region's premier continuing medical education conference dedicated to advancing clinical practice across the full spectrum of gastrointestinal and liver disease. Now entering its third year, this conference has become a trusted annual gathering for gastroenterologists, hepatologists, advanced practice providers, and internists throughout South Texas and beyond.

This comprehensive course delivers a state-of-the-art review of emerging evidence, practice-changing guidelines, and evolving therapeutic strategies across upper GI, colorectal, inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatic and biliary disease, and hepatology. The 2027 program introduces a dedicated pancreas and biliary session, a flexible afternoon format offering either a multi-specialty GLP-1 panel discussion or an all-hepatology session and continues the Innovation in GI lecture series. Featuring local, regional, and nationally recognized faculty, the program fosters an engaging and collegial learning environment designed to translate the latest evidence into everyday clinical practice.

We are encouraging medical students, residents, and fellows to submit abstracts highlighting their scholarly work within the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy, and more! Hands-On Workshop:
The University of Texas at San Antonio designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accept certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

CNE Accreditation Information:
The University of Texas at San Antonio is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Participants may earn up to 7.0 contact hours. Please note: the total number of ANCC contact hours listed is subject to change without notice due to symposium schedule revisions.

MOC II Information:
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 7.75 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
