Conference Overview

Course Description
The Anatolio B. and Rosalina S. Cruz Surgical Symposium focused on Surgical Oncology aims to provide ongoing education for Mr and Mrs Cruzthe management of solid tumors for physicians, physician assistants/nurse practitioners, fellows, residents, and medical students. Our sessions will provide both treatment strategies and evaluations to improve the quality of care by minimizing disparities in outcomes throughout the South Texas population.

The symposium is formatted for optimal engagement with lectures, panel discussions, robust debates, and case discussions on topics relevant to the management of solid tumors (pancreas, colorectal, breast, thoracic, and palliative care). Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions after each session. Throughout the day, session breaks, and during lunch, our lecturers will be present to have information conversations with attendees to further exchange ideas as well as to clarify educational objectives.

Learning Objectives

  • Evaluate cases, including diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes in solid tumor management (pancreas, colorectal, breast, thoracic, and palliative care).
  • Explain strategies to improve the quality and outcome of solid tumor management.
  • Incorporate new treatment strategies for surgical oncology, including management and early detection.
  • Understand the impact of team leadership in outcomes for patients with solid tumors.
