Course Description

This 2 part online enduring material presentation will focus on the chromosome 18 conditions and the recent updates to managing the care of affected individuals. This presentation is designed to address the current misconceptions about chromosome abnormalities in general as well as specific medical management recommendations.

This activity is designed to meet the educational goals of physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, physical therapist and other healthcare professionals.

  • Participants will recognize their biases and appreciate that proactive medical care can improve these children's lives.
  • Participants will learn to recognize the different nomenclature and different chromosome characteristics of the chromosome 18 conditions.
  • Providers are walked through the steps and shown an example of how looking up the exact genes involved in a patient's chromosome 18 change can impact clinical care.
