The PREP program at UT Health San Antonio, a premier research institution, is a highly structured post-baccalaureate program designed to strengthen research skills and qualifications of eligible participants interested in matriculating into and successfully completing a biomedical PhD program. Typical applicants have little or no research laboratory experience or would like to improve their academic performance by demonstrating their capability to excel in graduate level courses. PREP scholars conduct mentored research, take graduate level courses and participate in professional development activities.
The one-year PREP program, that will begin on July 1 of every year, will offer:

Training:
- Intensive mentored research experience
- Students are expected to work 40 hours per week (inclusive of coursework)
- Opportunities to enhance scientific communication skills by presenting posters at local and national conferences
- Individualized advising and feedback on personal statements, CVs, and application to graduate schools
- Mock graduate school admissions interviews
- Regularly scheduled meetings with program directors throughout the year
Professional Development:
- Allowance for participation and networking in a minimum of one national recruitment conference (ABRCMS)
- Participation in social activities such as annual retreats with IMSD scholars
- Frequent professional development activities
