Our Clinic Facilities and Services

Hunke clinic front office

Our clinic and patient care services include components designed to accommodate, treat and support our patients.

Clinic features

With 12 treatment rooms, the special care clinic allows multiple points of access based on the needs of each individual patient. Five rooms equipped with state-of-the-art capabilities, including delivery of conscious sedation, combined with seven treatment rooms designed to provide traditional dental services bring a new level of care for patients with disabilities.

  • Specially designed, private treatment rooms: Our spacious ultramodern treatment rooms allow easy access with plenty of space for the patient and their family or caregivers while being private. Each room has adjustable lighting, sound-dampening walls, large screens and everything needed for treatment in one location.
  • Multisensory room: Known as the Zen Den, this room is designed as a space for patients to reduce anxiety and relax while offering sensory-regulating activities and amenities.
  • Wheelchair and access accommodation: Entrances, reception, corridors and rooms are designed to allow easy access. The wide corridors include hand railing and wheelchair bumpers. Extra wide doorways allow barrier-free movement throughout the clinic with close parking for those unable to move long distances.
  • Sedation:  The clinic's location within UT Dentistry’s Center for Oral Health Care and Research gives access to additional treatment spaces that allow full sedation should that be necessary.  Of the clinic’s 12 treatment rooms, five are specially designed with the latest equipment to deliver full treatment along with conscious sedation. A comprehensive exam will determine if or what level of sedation is most appropriate for a patient.
  • Extension of care: With plans to open in late 2025, an on-site state-certified Ambulatory Surgery Center with a fully equipped operating suite will allow more complex cases to be seen on an outpatient basis. Scheduled to open in December 2024, UT Health San Antonio’s new tertiary care hospital, located next to the dental center, will be an option for dental treatment of individuals with serious overlying health issues.
