Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine
The Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) program is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), the body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for accreditation of programs of medical education leading to the M.D. degree in the United States. It is jointly sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges and the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association. Accreditation surveys occur approximately every eight years with the most recent being in January 2019. Re-accreditation assures our stakeholders that our medical education program meets or exceeds nationally accepted standards of quality. The LCME continued full accreditation for the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine for a period of eight years. The Deaf Education and Hearing Science (M.D.E.H.S.) program is accredited by the Council on the Education of the Deaf, 7703 Floyd Curl Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78229-3900. The Council is an organization sponsored by eight national premiere organizations in deafness and maintains high standards for persons working with dead and/or hard-of-hearing students in all educational settings. All educational programs in the School of Dentistry are accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association, a specialized accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
