Transforming Cardiovascular Science Into Better Health Outcomes
The Cardiovascular Research Laboratory at the Kate Marmion School of Public Health is a premier research and clinical facility dedicated to improving cardiometabolic, pulmonary, and brain health. Equipped with advanced noninvasive imaging and physiologic assessment technologies, the Laboratory supports innovative research in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, and neurologic disorders. Inspired by the integrated physiologic assessment model developed within the Framingham Heart Study and established through support from a UT System Faculty STARs award to Vasan Ramachandran, MD, the laboratory brings together advanced cardiovascular imaging, vascular and autonomic function testing, and cardiopulmonary exercise assessment within a single multidisciplinary platform.
The Cardiovascular Research Laboratory serves as a shared institutional resource supporting clinical, translational, and population health research across The University of Texas at San Antonio. By bringing together scientists, clinicians, and community partners, the Laboratory serves as a hub for discovery, education, and patient-centered care for San Antonio and the surrounding communities.
