UT School of Public Health San Antonio founding chair Barnett receives $250,000 UT System Faculty STARs award
Tracey Barnett, PhD, founding chair of the Department of Quantitative and Qualitative Health Sciences at UT School of Public Health San Antonio, has been awarded a prestigious $250,000 UT System Faculty STARs (Science and Technology Acquisition and Retention) award! This exciting development will allow the School of Public Health to acquire and implement cutting-edge technologies, ushering in a new era of scientific exploration by combining, analyzing, and incorporating machine learning.
Barnett's research portfolio focuses on health risk behaviors in both adolescent and adult populations, with a particular emphasis on tobacco use, smoking cessation, and prevention strategies for emerging trends among youth. Currently, she is a co-investigator on a project dedicated to improving educational guidelines for substance use disorders among individuals with developmental disabilities.
