National Dental Hygiene Month: Protecting the body starts with a smile

 

The condition of teeth and gums plays a crucial role in overall well-being, according to Veronica Ledesma, MS, RDH, an assistant clinical professor at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio School of Dentistry and new co-director of the school’s new Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degree program at the UT Education and Research Center at Laredo.


UT Health San Antonio dental student recipient of ICD-WUDAA Scholarship for a third year

For a third year, a School of Dentistry DDS student is named the recipient of the International College of Dentists (ICD) and Washington University Dental Alumni Association (WUDAA) Scholarship Award. The 2023 awardee for this highly competitive national scholarship is senior dental student Max Shaw.


The School of Dentistry Announces $100,000 in Funding from Delta Dental

 

The School of Dentistry recently received $100,000 in funding from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation to increase access to community oral health care in 2023-2024. This funding made possible through the Access to Care Grants Program, will be used again this year to support patient care at UT Dentistry’s Ricardo Salinas Pediatric Dental Clinic and Laredo Dental Clinic. 


Dental Student Receives Pulp Biology and Regeneration Award at IADR

 

The International Association for Dental Research (IADR), a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing dental, oral and craniofacial research worldwide, recently granted two Pulp Biology and Regeneration Group student travel awards.
