BioMed Career Fest Event: Biosketch vs. CV/Resume

Workshop Description: This workshop will break down the key differences between a bio sketch, an academic CV, and a resume featuring guest speaker Dr. Babatunde Oyajobi, Professor and Director of Postdoctoral Affairs at UT San Antonio. Attendees will learn when and how to use each format, how to effectively communicate research productivity and strengths, and how to tailor these documents for funding applications, academic roles, or industry positions. Students will leave with practical tips to structure their materials and make their accomplishments stand out to evaluators and hiring managers.

In this interactive workshop, attendees will learn how to articulate their skills, strengths, and career interests in a compelling professional pitch. Hear directly from Dr. Joel Agosto, GSBS alumni and Eli Lilly CERP manager, on how to create a pitch that is succinct, memorable, and tailored for recruiters.

Workshop Description: Networking doesn’t have to feel intimidating especially when you know how to approach it strategically. This session will introduce students to practical, actionable networking techniques for both in-person and virtual environments. Participants will then put those skills into practice during a guided speed-networking experience featuring prompts, conversation starters, and facilitated rotations. We will also offer light refreshments to all participants!
