Needlestick Process

University Health System charge nurse or supervisor at the location of the exposure (and UHS Hospital Supervisor pager: 756-5550) or designated person is notified of the exposure and makes arrangements for immediate transport of the exposed person to the UHS Employee Health Clinic or University Health System Emergency Center for immediate evaluation.  If indicated, the exposed person may be given antiretroviral medications within 2 hours of the exposure.
