Periodontal Assessments
Also called: Gum disease risk assessment
Oral health is often a good indicator of your overall health. Inflammation in the mouth may be related to chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer or respiratory illnesses.
Periodontal assessments are recommended one a year to ensure you have good oral health and health habits.
At this assessment, your gum line will be examined for bleeding or sensitivity, which can be precursors to periodontal disease, also called gum disease. Plaque and tartar build up will also be removed to keep gums healthy.
During your assessment, you may be asked about:
- Oral hygiene habits
- Previous dental history
- Bleeding gums
- Any dental concerns you may have
