City of San Antonio Receives Gold Medal from CityHealth
The City of San Antonio has been awarded a gold medal by CityHealth, an initiative of de Beaumont Foundation and Kaiser Permanente. Recognized for implementing policies that enhance the health and well-being of residents, particularly addressing disparities in marginalized communities, San Antonio is the sole city in Texas and one of seven nationwide to receive this distinction.
City of San Antonio Metropolitan District (Metro Health) Director Dr. Claude A. Jacob states “We are grateful for CityHealth’s national recognition of our efforts on the ground. We look forward to using this evaluation as a guide to maintain the progress made with implementing policies that improve the health and well-being for all across the City of San Antonio. This recognition also celebrates our Metro Health team’s continuous resilience and commitment to serve our community as we address ongoing disruptions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Metro Health is a strategic partner for The UT School of Public Health San Antonio. In collaboration with The School of Public Health, Metro Health partnered in the development of the school's curriculum, will provide experiential learning opportunities for students, and facilitate graduates access to rewarding careers in the city.
