UT Health provides exams and fittings for scleral contact lenses for those with keratoconus.
Patients who have been told they cannot wear contact lenses because of an irregular cornea are often good candidates for scleral contact lenses. Scleral contact lenses have a larger diameter than regular contact lenses that are designed specifically to vault over the entire corneal surface and rest on the “white” of the eye. Scleral lenses replace the irregular cornea caused by Keratoconus to create a smooth optical surface to correct the vision.
Our office offers many contact lens options to address vision needs for keratoconus patients.
