Treatment
Some of the procedures our surgeons perform include:
- Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) involves the placement of a device, such as a pacemaker, that helps regulate the heart's contractions and improve blood flow throughout the body.
- Transmyocardial Laser Revascularization (TMR) is for patients with chest pain who are not suited for bypass surgery. This laser surgery creates a very small channel within the heart's left ventricle to relieve angina pain.
- Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery (CABG) is an operation recommended for people who have blocked coronary arteries. A vein taken from the leg and an artery from the chest is placed to bypass the damaged tissue and provide blood flow to your heart. A machine called a “heart-lung” machine is used to temporarily stop your heart during the surgery.
- Off-pump Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery (CABG) is much like the traditional (CABG), except that the heart-lung machine is not used, so your heart beats normally throughout surgery. This type of procedure is sometimes called "beating-heart surgery."
- Endoscopic Vein Harvest (EVH) is a technique wherein the surgeon uses a tiny light and camera and small incisions to remove a vein in the leg to use during heart bypass surgery. This special technique results in quicker healing and less pain after surgery.
