UTSA Football's most prized trophy on display at UT Health San Antonio

UTSA Football's first Conference USA championship trophy was on display Tuesday at UT Health San Antonio.

For fans and staff at the UT Health Medical Arts and Research Center, it was a photo opportunity to remember.

UT Health San Antonio is the Official Healthcare Provider for UTSA Athletics.

“A championship trophy is a symbol of hard work and dedication,” said Ken Kenneth-Nwosa, MD, the head team physician for UTSA Athletics, who sees patients and student-athletes at the MARC. “It was exciting to give our employees the opportunity to see what has been accomplished through their hard work.”

Katherine Bartush, MD, director of Sports Medicine at UT Health San Antonio and the head orthopaedic surgeon for UTSA agreed.

“This was a fun way to give back to our staff,” Bartush said. “With the help of our employees, we’re proud to provide the most accessible comprehensive care in South Texas to help make this championship possible.”

Kenneth-Nwosa and Dan Bellamy, UTSA Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine, also brought their massive championship rings and allowed fans to take photos wearing them.

Lynette Babilonia was among those who felt recognized as they relived the Roadrunner’s historic 2021 season – up close and personal.

“My family and I went to the championship game and to see the trophy and have the privilege to wear the ring in our place of work was really an honor,” she said. “It brought back all the memories of the game: the cheering, the team spirit, and celebration. It’s also a great example of teamwork and partnership.”
