The risk and reward of being an older mom

More women today are choosing to wait to start their families for a variety of reasons.  Although there are great benefits to waiting there are also great risks involved.  Once a woman has reached the age of thirty-five she is considered to be of "advanced maternal age".  What this means is that she is at higher risk of diabetes, an elevated BMI and high blood pressure. 

Many women who are becoming pregnant at thirty-five and older have overwhelmingly positive outcomes but it is important to know the risks and connect with a team who will monitor your pregnancy early on.
