How San Antonio parents can help their kids through back-to-school anxiety

Giancarlo Ferruzzi, MD, spoke to MySA.com about back-to-school anxieties children may be facing before returning to class, and how parents can help their kids address these feelings. 

What can parents do to ease their child's school anxiety: 

  • Openly communicate 
  • Observe your child's facial expression, tone of voice, and mood to see how they are feeling
  • Don't avoid talking about scary topics, but be mindful of your child's age when having tough conversations
  • Communicate with your child's teachers 
  • Assure your child that you are there to support them
