Athlete and college student mental health
College students and student athletes in particular face unique struggles to succeed in a variety of areas including sports, academics and socially. UT Health San Antonio’s partnership with UTSA athletics focuses on destigmatizing mental health issues and treating each student physically, mentally and nutritionally.
Dr. Summer Rolin, assistant professor of clinical neuropsychology and rehabilitation medicine, treats the athletes at UTSA by bringing in athletic trainers, coaches, medical staff, as well as neurophysiologists to treat the whole person. In the wake of COVID the program is working to re-socialize teams, build team dynamics and offer each individual coping skills and strategies they can use in their everyday life.
