Robert Gilson, MD, discusses what you can do to help protect yourself and what to expect if you do have skin cancer. 

If you have a family history of skin cancer, if you are light or fair skinned, if you have skin that burns, freckles, or reddens easily, or if you have frequent exposure to UV rays you may be at a higher risk of skin cancer.
