Vivian’s project involves testing potential new therapies for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). While putative driver mutations are known, the corresponding proteins are not targetable at present. Therefore, using a different approach, she is targeting a protein that is overexpressed in HCC and essential for tumor cell survival. Interfering with the activity of this essential protein could impede tumor cell survival.
