About Me

Hi, I’m Nick, I came down to San Antonio to pursue my dreams of medicine and research from the beautiful state of Washington where I grew up, pursued an undergraduate and master’s degree, and spent much of my free time exploring. While I can’t say San Antonio is as green as my home state, I can say it has it does have its own beauty and nature that I look forward to getting to know! My path here has certainly unique and somewhat convoluted, but I am very excited to be at UT Health San Antonio and to see the future I will build here.

Hobbies/Interests

I love the outdoors, I love trying new things and exploring, road trips and hikes, reading and writing, working on (and getting frustrated with) my car, and working out.

Research Topic

Cancer development/mutagenesis, cancer genetics, bioinformatics.

Why I chose MD/PhD

The unique sets challenges and privileges that a Medical Scientist faces through personal patient interaction and compassionate care in the clinic and discovery and problem solving in the laboratory are what attracted me most to the MD/PhD. I hope to succeed in applying principles learned through both facets that will simultaneously improve each aspect of my work and allow me to improve as many lives as possible during and in my future.

Why I chose MD/PhD at UT Health San Antonio

I chose the MD/PhD program at San Antonio for the warm and welcoming spirit I felt, the connection I felt with faculty during interviews, and the growth and focus on research that I see being driven here.
