Q: The website address for the Online Employment System was e-mailed to me but I deleted the e-mail. How can I access the website?
A: The website address is www.uthscsa.edu/hr/online_employment.asp. Once you open the page, bookmark it. Since the website is for authorized personnel only, we try to restrict it as much as possible.
Q: When I created a user account in the system, it asked for my employee identification number. Why is this necessary?
A: Your employee identification number is requested in lieu of your social security number in order to identify you and verify that you are an employee of the Health Science Center. It is also used to validate your request since authorization is given to employees who are responsible for preparing personnel requisitions or are a part of their department hiring process.
Q: How long does it take to receive authorization to use the system?
A: You should get authorization approval the same day that you submitted your request. If it takes more than one day and you need to use the system, call Human Resources at (210) 567-2600.
Q: I have my username and password. What's the quickest way to learn about using the system?
A: Short instruction sheets, called QuickSteps, are available online either in the Online Employment System website or on the login page.
Q: How will I know about the status of my personnel requisition or whether the job has been approved?
A: You can check on the status of your personnel requisition by logging in to the Online Employment System. You will also receive an e-mail to let you know that your requisition has been posted.
Q: Will I receive an e-mail to let me know that job applications have been submitted?
A: No. You will have to check the system for any job applications that have arrived for you to review.
Q: The hiring manager in my department insists on getting paper job applications instead of viewing them online. What can I do?
A: Applications are viewable online and can be printed to your local printer. They can also be e-mailed to the hiring manager and can be printed to his or her local printer.
Q: When is the Online Employment System available?
A: The system is available 24 hours 7 days a week from any computer that is connected to the internet. The computer must have Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape web browsers.
Q: I forgot my username and password. What can I do?
A: Call the Employment Office at (210)567-2600 for assistance.
