BSN to DNP - Nurse Anesthesia

The nurse anesthesia program is a 3-year, full-time program that spans 108 credit hours and is designed to integrate nursing science, ethics, and biophysical, psychosocial, and analytical knowledge. The program aims to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to offer safe, individualized, culturally competent anesthesia care across all age groups. Additionally, the program places a strong emphasis on leading interprofessional teams to develop, evaluate, and utilize evidence-based guidelines that impact anesthesia healthcare processes, quality, safety, and cost. Upon completion of the program, students will be well-equipped to make a positive impact on the field of anesthesia and improve patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from a nationally accredited nursing program (ACEN, NLNAC, or CCNE)
  • Current, valid RN license in Texas or a compact state that includes Texas
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 for the last 60 credit hours of college coursework (evaluated in chronological order)
  • Minimum Science GPA of 3.0
  • A minimum of one-year critical care experience as an RN
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) taken within the past five years
  • Minimum GRE Analytical Writing score of 3.5
  • Send official GRE score report to code 7616 – UT San Antonio School of Nursing NursingCAS
  • Completion of the following courses, each with a grade of B or higher and worth at least 3 semester credit hours: Statistics and Organic Chemistry or Biochemistry (completed within the last 5 years, lab not required)
  • Three professional references (submitted through the NursingCAS application).
  • Complete the writing sample via the Kira Talent platform (embedded within the NursingCAS application)
  • Complete and upload the following forms to the application. You must use the templates provided
