Admission Requirements

  • BSN and/or MSN from a nationally accredited school of nursing (ACEN, NLNAC, CCNE)
  • RN licensure in Texas or compact state license — International applicants should contact the PhD program director to determine licensure requirements
  • 3.0 minimum GPA from last 60 hours of college coursework
  • Three professional references
  • $45 School of Nursing Application Fee (non-refundable)
  • A completed NursingCAS application
  • NursingCAS Application Fee
  • Candidates for graduate admissions will be invited to interview and submit a writing sample

Application and Fee

A completed NursingCAS application must be submitted before the application deadline. All fees are accessed through the NursingCAS application. The School of Nursing Application Fee is $45 and is non-refundable. The NursingCAS fee is separate and is set by NursingCAS.

Transcripts

The admissions application, NursingCAS fee, and official transcripts are due to NursingCAS by the application deadline. Please submit official transcripts of all attended schools to:

Program Information

The PhD in Nursing Science program is a research-based doctoral degree, which prepares students for careers as clinical nurse scientists and faculty. Students may enter the program at the Post-BSN or Post-MSN level.
