Travel Awards

Early Career Investigators 

Our goal is to support early-career investigators’ career development in cancer-related research. A limited number of travel scholarships for early career investigators are available. These scholarships will give investigators an opportunity to attend the 2024 Advancing the Science of Cancer in Latinos  conference. The following travel scholarships are currently available:

NCI supported Geographic Management of Cancer Health Disparities Program (GMaP) Region 3

To be eligible for the GMaP Region 3 travel scholarship, applicants must: 

  • Reside in a GMaP Region 3 state – Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
  • Currently conducting or interested in cancer research (e.g., clinical, basic, behavioral or population science).
  • Available to attend the entire Advancing the Science of Cancer in Latinos conference. 
  • Complete a GMaP Region 3 Travel Scholarship application.

Important considerations: 
  • Early applications are encouraged! 
  • The Gmap Travel application deadline is November 30, 2023.
  • Limited funds are available. Awards are valued up to $1,000.00 USD per application and may only be applied to roundtrip travel to the conference and conference registration. Please note that award funds will not be applied to lodging. 
  • Awardees who are unable to attend the conference will forfeit the award.
