Faculty members and students from the Division of Respiratory Care will deliver research poster presentations at the AARC Congress 2018 in December.

With eight poster presentations of student and faculty research scheduled at the conference, the Division of Respiratory Care is particularly well represented at this year’s congress, said Richard Wettstein, MMEd, RRT, FAARC, Program Director and associate professor in the Division of Respiratory Care.
“Eight is one of our higher numbers,” Wettstein said of the posters. “We are hoping these will lead to peer-reviewed articles.”
Wettstein is one of six faculties who will present at the gathering in Las Vegas. He is presenting the abstract titled, “Is APRV set according to current recommendations for adult patients at a large regional community medical center?”

Respiratory Care student Angel Melendez will present “Selecting the Right Tidal Volume for Patients with ARDS: Are We Staying Within the Recommended Range for a Lung Protective Strategy?” Student Serafin Gudino will present “Is a Lung Protective Strategy Routinely Used for Pediatric Patients in the ICU?”

Ruben Restrepo, M.D., RRT, FAARC, Respiratory Care Professor will present a workshop titled “Interpreting Ventilator Waveforms.” He also will moderate an open forum poster presentation session on aerosol therapy and present two posters in collaboration with groups outside of UT Health San Antonio.
