Department of Occupational Therapy Associate Professor Ana Allegretti, PhD, OTR, ATP, received the 2025 Distinguished Service Award from the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA) in June.
Allegretti’s area of expertise and research interest is assistive technology. She has been a member of RESNA since 2003 and has served the organization in numerous roles. She currently is a board member, the chair of the special interest groups and an associate editor of RESNA’s journal, Assistive Technology.
As the leading professional organization dedicated to advancing the field of assistive technology and rehabilitation engineering, RESNA and its members help break down barriers for people with disabilities, empowering them to live more independently and fully, Allegretti said.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized by this group of passionate professionals,” she said.
“Dr. Allegretti has been a dedicated leader with RESNA,” said Bridgett Piernik-Yoder, PhD, OTR, FAOTA, professor and chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy and associate dean for academic affairs for the School of Health Professions. “She is so deserving of this prestigious recognition.”
