Imaging Sciences program director selected for leadership development program
The director of the new Master of Science in Imaging Sciences program is one of 19 participants from across the country chosen for the Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions (ASAHP) 2023 Leadership Development Program.
Laura P. Vasquez, PhD, MS, RVT, RT, MRSO, said ASAHP’s Leadership Development Program aligns with her values and mission to expand interprofessional collaboration, management and innovation in health professional education.
“I am confident that this program will enhance my leadership skills to lead through the changes we continually face in health care professions education and advance my educational content delivery for better student experiences,” Vasquez said.
School of Health Professions Dean David Shelledy, PhD, RRT, RPFT, FAARC, FASAHP, applauded Vasquez’s selection.
“We are delighted Dr. Vasquez was chosen to participate in this outstanding leadership program based on her current leadership activities and desire to do even more,” Shelledy said.
The program includes training opportunities for future deans and leaders in health professions education, including modules in management skills, budgeting and conflict resolution and other administrative topics. The program is divided into two phases, with the first in April and the second in October, immediately prior to the 2023 ASAHP Annual Conference. In between program phases, team projects will foster collaboration on events affecting institutions of higher education.
“ASAHP’s Leadership Development Program (LDP) is creating a pathway for faculty in health professions education to gain the leadership skills essential for future leaders and deans,” said ASAHP President Deb Larsen, PhD, FASAHP.
