George Kudolo, Ph.D., FAIC, FACB named interim chair of the Department of Health Sciences

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of George Kudolo, Ph.D., FAIC, FACB as the interim chair of the Department of Health Sciences in the School of Health Professions (SHP).  Dr. Kudolo has been with the School of Health Professions for 29 years and currently holds an appointment as full Professor with Tenure in the department.

While at the Health Science Center, Dr. Kudolo has served on numerous school and university-wide committees to include the New Faculty Orientation Committee, Student Appeals Committee, Institutional Promotions, Tenure, and Appointments Committee, and Ph.D. in Health Sciences Steering Committee.  Dr. Kudolo currently chairs the SHP Promotion, Tenure and Appointments Committee (PTAC) for our school. In addition to providing leadership on these committees, Dr. Kudolo has served as the Director of the Graduate Toxicology Program in the department.  His expertise includes the areas of clinical chemistry, toxicology, and alternative and complementary medicine.  His research interests are in reproduction, nutrition, and diabetes.  Dr. Kudolo has also participated on several important editorial boards and published numerous abstracts, journal articles, and book chapters.

Dr. Kudolo has received many awards in recognition of his teaching to include the Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award, American Association for Clinical Chemistry Outstanding Speaker Award, and the SHP Distinguished Teaching Award.  In addition to his current service, Dr. Kudolo has received numerous research grants and has presented at various conferences in his field.

I would like to extend my gratitude and thanks to De De Gardner for her many years of outstanding service to the Health Science Center, as well as the respiratory care program and Department of Health Sciences.  Ms. Gardner has held an appointment as the Steven Lloyd Barshop Endowed Chair of the Department of Respiratory Care and tenured Associate Professor.  She is a Fellow of the American Association for Respiratory Care, Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and a board trustee on the Chest Foundation. She is a past president of the Central Texas Society for Respiratory Care and a past president of Texas Society for Allied Health Professions.  In 2016, Ms. Gardner received the UT Health Presidential Clinical Excellence Award.  Ms. Gardner has accepted a position as Associate Professor in the Department of Respiratory Care at Texas State University to begin this fall.
