Brian Kirkwood, D.D.S., M.S.

Ph.D. Student

As a Dental Officer, he has served in the U.S. Army for over 13 years with assignments around the world. His professional career includes a diverse set of experiences to include leadership, clinical operations, healthcare facility construction projects, clinical practice, and mentoring dental residents. Since 2018, the U.S. Army assigned him to the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research focusing on Combat Casualty Care research where he held multiple leadership roles in research to include Deputy Program Manager: Organ Support Automation Technology, Deputy Chief: Combat Mortality Prevention Division, Deputy Chief: Dental and Craniofacial Research Department and Chief: Dental Materials. His career path led him to the Translation Science PhD program to refine his research skillset that will enable him to become a better leader in military medical research. His research interest focuses on the development of clinical artificial intelligence systems to enhance healthcare delivery in the prehospital environment.
