Research Topic

Toxin–antitoxin (TA) systems support bacterial survival under stress and persistence in the gut. We investigate TA systems in a novel Faecalibacterium prausnitzii strain (UT1), a key butyrate-producing commensal with anti-inflammatory properties. Predicted TA loci will be cloned, expressed in Escherichia coli, and functionally validated in UT1. Anakha's project aims to uncover stress-regulation mechanisms and provide new genetic tools for engineering gut symbionts.
