Workshop Series Description
Whenever you start something new you have a list of 1) the things you know, 2) the things you know you don’t know and 3) the dreaded things you don’t know you don’t know. This "Hidden Curriculum Workshop" series is aimed at that third category: those things you pick up slowly over years in academia that if you had just been told would make life so much more straightforward.
As a first or second year student, you may find yourself stressed or worried about:
- What to expect in your four years here, and how to make the most of it?
- Finding people both in and out of the lab that can help you on your journey?
- What to do when things get complicated? How to strengthen your relationship with your mentor after conflict?
- How to be a researcher and how your work has impact?
- How to use academic terminology correctly (e.g., tenure, F-grants, and more)?
