:::WHAT CAUSES DIABETES
“Too much sugar in the blood” . The name of the sugar in the body is “ GLUCOSE ”
The blood always has some glucose in it because the body uses glucose for energy to keep it going!
Where do we get glucose?
When we eat carbohydrates, our body breaks them down into glucose. The following foods are our primary source of carbohydrates:
Fruits
Breads
|
Vegetables
Pastas

How does your body control your blood sugar levels?
Your body makes insulin.
Insulin is like a key that opens the “door of the cells” and lets glucose in.
In diabetes, there is little or no insulin or cells do not allow insulin to carry the sugar in.
What happens next?
If the sugar is not carried into the cells, it stays in your blood
High levels of blood sugar begin to damage your blood vessels and other organs such as your eyes, kidneys, and heart
