Department of Emergency Health Sciences
The Department of Emergency Health Sciences (formerly Department of Emergency Medical Technology) is committed to bringing you the best in emergency and pre-hospital education and training. For over 30 years we have been a recognized leader in EMS education and we look forward to keeping and improving that tradition! With two divisions, our department is designed to facilitate the needs of our customers and communities of interest.
Division of EMS Education
Under the direction of Shawn Komorn, this division coordinates all levels of EMS certification and the Bachelor of Science Degree-completion in Emergency Health Sciences. Our EMT-Basic and EMT-Paramedic programs award college credit for successful completion. (As a Health Science Center we cannot award an Associate Degree.) Visit our School of Health Professions Welcome Center page for more detailed information regarding our certification courses and the EHS degree.
Division of Pre-hospital Services
Under the direction of Joe Lindstrom, the Pre-hospital Services division offers continuing education, medical direction, infection control activities, and quality assurance and improvement for contracted EMS agencies.
Division of Community Education
Under the direction of Ms. Leslie Hernandez, this division offers all levels of EMS certification courses, NREMT and DSHS approved EMS continuing education; and, as an AHA designated Training Center, all American Heart Association Life Support certificate courses.
