  • Allows students to focus on class attendance and studies, clinical field rotations, community outreach and service-learning programs;
  • Strengthens our ability to recruit and retain outstanding students from all age groups and various cultural backgrounds;
  • Advances the academic learning environment at the School of Health Professions while enhancing the UT Health Science Center’s mission of educational excellence.

 

2006 Respiratory Care students

2006 Respiratory Care students who received scholarship support from the Alphonse Siros Charitable Trust are attending school on our Laredo Extension Campus. They plan to remain in Webb County, a medically underserved community on the Texas-Mexico border, when they graduate. Scholarship support ensures that qualified students can be recruited…and retained.

Mr. Ellis Goins

Mr. Ellis Goins, School of Health Professions 2007 Presidential Ambassador Scholar, served our country as a U. S. Army Intelligence Officer and was recognized as the Medical Soldier of the year (1985) before retiring in 2002. Scholarship support is critical to Ellis as he is married and raising a family while obtaining his Master’s Degree(MPT) at the School of Health Professions, Department of Physical Therapy.
