Learning proper techniques
Undergraduate nursing student Dawn Cummins (seated) demonstrates proper baby-handling techniques, one of the many clinical skills reinforced in a new collaborative program with Methodist Hospital. Judy Maltas (back left), clinical associate faculty at Methodist and its coordinator for the program, and Dr. Anne Garner (back right), R.N., Health Science Center faculty member, are on hand to offer tips to Cummins and nursing student Sandra Ramirez (front). The baby is Kevon Raymon Kelly, who weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces at birth. The photo was taken when he was a day old, and it was the first day of clinical skills training for the spring semester.
