Hispanic Faculty Association spring social set for Feb. 27

The Health Science Center community is invited to the Hispanic Faculty Association's Spring Social from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the Large Galleria on the 2nd floor of the School of Nursing building. The event will give participants the opportunity to meet members of the different schools at the Health Science Center and members of the Hispanic Faculty Association, and to learn about potential funding sources for Hispanic research projects. Attendees will enjoy a wine and cheese reception.

Inventory packets to be distributed Feb. 28

Inventory packets for the Fiscal Year 2002 annual inventory will be distributed at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, in the general services conference room, 122E. Please pick up packets by 11:30 a.m.

Alamo Regional Science Fair seeks judges

Health Science Center faculty are encouraged to sign up to judge the Alamo Regional Science Fair scheduled for Friday, March 8, in the Bill Greehey Arena at St. Mary's University, One Camino Santa Maria.

Students in the sixth through 12th grades from schools throughout the city will present their scientific research during the fair.

Oncology symposium to be held March 2

The Medical School and the Cancer Therapy and Research Center will sponsor "Practical Applications of New Agents in Oncology" Saturday, March 2, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. at the Hilton Palacio del Rio Hotel, 200 S. Alamo. The symposium will focus on the large number of new anticancer agents and therapeutics that have been approved over the last several years, as well as those that likely will be approved. Speakers will provide guidance regarding current and projected appropriate use of these therapeutics.
