Glenn is ABWA Woman of the Year
The American Business Women's Association (ABWA) selected Dr. Gayle Glenn as its 2002 American Business Woman of the Year. Dr. Glenn is a 1982 graduate of the Health Science Center Dental School.
"It is personally rewarding to be recognized for my contributions to ABWA, my community and my profession," Dr. Glenn said. "Through ABWA, I've established a supportive network of local business women, learned skills that prepared me to assume leadership roles in my profession, become involved in the community where I live and practice, and had the opportunity to support educational opportunities for women."
ABWA achievements are only part of Dr. Glenn's career accomplishments. She has had fellowships in the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists and is a past president of the Texas Association of Orthodontists and the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists. She also served on the Texas Dental Association Council on Membership for five years, and currently serves on the Council on Orthodontic Practice for the American Association of Orthodontists.
"There are several Health Science Center faculty members I consider mentors," Dr. Glenn said. "I have maintained contact with them through the years, and I feel they helped sculpt my professional life. Some taught me specific techniques and others taught me how to live my life as a dentist. It is these personal relationships that truly prepared me for my career in dentistry."
During her 17-year membership in the ABWA Duncanville Charter Chapter, Dr. Glenn has served on most of the chapter's committees and as president twice. She is serving as treasurer for the second time.
