Cancer clinical trials seminar set for March 23
The San Antonio Clinical Trials Task Force will host a free seminar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the International Conference Center at the University of the Incarnate Word, 4301 Broadway. Cancer patients, their families and anyone interested in the many clinical trials available in San Antonio are welcome to attend.
The task force has gathered members of 19 organizations who will help attendees understand the language of clinical trials and the pros and cons of participating in them. Panel participants will describe a clinical trial from the perspectives of the physician, nurse and patient.
The seminar will provide information on the newest approaches to cancer treatment, including targeted therapies and umbilical cord blood research. Attendees also can learn about patient protection and ethical policies of clinical trials.
