Blessing honored for excellence
Afer two books and 100 published articles, Dr. J. Dennis Blessing, chairman of the department of physician assistant studies, has become the first recipient of the Association of Physician Assistant Programs (APAP) Research Award.
The APAP honored Dr. Blessing for his lifetime achievement in conducting, publishing and teaching research. It is the first year the organization presented the award.
"I was very surprised to learn I had been selected," Dr. Blessing said. "There are a number of people who deserve this recognition and I would have given it to any one of them."
Dr. Blessing is the editor and a contributor to the book Physician Assistant's Guide to Research and Medical Literature. It is written as an introduction to research for physician assistant students.
In addition to his work at the Health Science Center, Dr. Blessing serves on the advisory board of the Pedersen Research Institute (an institute within the APAP) and on the APAP research and review committee.
