Harrington chosen as ASAHP fellow

Portrait of Dr. Harrington HARRINGTON

The Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions (ASAHP) selected Dr. Marilyn S. Harrington, dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences at the Health Science Center, as one of four to receive a Fellows Program Award. As fellows, Dr. Harrington and her colleagues will take on a new role as fund-raisers and advocates of health policy in governmental affairs for ASAHP.

"This association has given us a forum to promote allied health programs in academic health science centers. As a result, our national exposure is increasing, and our programs are being recognized as having goals above and beyond clinical practice," Dr. Harrington said. "As our exposure increases, our position as leadership institutions solidifies."

Dr. Harrington also was elected to serve on the association's board of directors.

ASAHP's mission is to enhance effectiveness of education for the allied health professions. It promotes collaboration, research and scholarship, and academic leadership, and influences health care policy. Its membership consists of 102 academic institutions, four professional associations and approximately 300 individual members.
