Frank M. Townsend Lecture scheduled for Dec. 3
The third annual Frank M. Townsend, M.D., Lecture will take place at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, in room 409L of the Medical School building. The public is invited. Dr. Cecilia M. Fenoglio-Preiser, MacKenzie Professor and director of the department of pathology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, is the guest speaker. Dr. Fenoglio-Preiser will discuss "Gastrointestinal Drug-Induced Injuries of the Intestinal Tract."
Dr. Fenoglio-Preiser is an award-winning expert in gastrointestinal pathology. She is a member of the National Cancer Institute's Committee on Common Data Elements for Colorectal Cancer and the PACCT Strategy Group Subcommittee on Colorectal Cancer. She is the founding member of the Gastrointestinal Pathology Society and is an active member of the International Academy of Pathology, the National Advisory Committee on Colorectal Cancer and the National Advisory Committee on Colon Cancer Prevention and Detection. She also is president of the Academic Pathology Associates of the Consolidated Laboratories of the Greater Cincinnati Health Alliance.
Dr. Fenoglio-Preiser earned her M.D. degree from Georgetown University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., and completed her postdoctoral training in pathology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.
The Frank M. Townsend, M.D., Lecture commemorates the distinguished career of Dr. Frank Marion Townsend, who was chairman of the pathology department at the UTHSC from 1972 to 1986. For more information, call ext. 7-4003.
