Spurs tickets on sale
Basketball season is here, and you can help cheer the San Antonio Spurs on to another championship. The UTHSC Special Events Council has Spurs tickets on sale for the Oct. 30 game against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Nov. 13 game against the Houston Rockets and the Nov. 30 game against the Sacramento Kings.
Discount ticket prices are $15.50, $24.50 and $35.50. Purchases can be made between noon and 1 p.m. every Wednesday in the Medical School foyer. Cash, checks or credit cards will be accepted as payment.

Diversity Visa Green Card Lottery ends Oct. 31
Foreign nationals are encouraged to consider participating in the Diversity Visa Green Card Lottery (DV-2003). The lottery makes available up to 55,000 permanent resident immigrant visas to foreign nationals each year via random selection of eligible entries. Entries are being accepted at the Kentucky Consular Center until noon Oct. 31. Application and submission instructions can be found at http://travel.state.gov/visainstructions.html. Only individuals from selected countries are eligible to participate. Eligibility requirements can be found at http://travel.state.gov/visa_lottery.html.
The UTHSC office of international services (OIS) will not be involved in the application process. However, if a foreign national is advised that he or she has been chosen through the lottery, OIS should be contacted immediately at ext. 7-6241.
Certified medical office manager course offered at SAC
Medical office professionals are invited to attend a certified medical office manager continuing education course offered by San Antonio College. The course runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 13 through 16 in room 025A of the Nail Technical Center at San Antonio College, 1300 San Pedro Ave.
Students will learn all aspects of medical office management including financial evaluation and planning, practice administration issues, personnel and time management, and managed care. Successful completion of the course earns participants the designation of certified medical office manager. Continuing education units are provided. Cost is $599 per person and includes instructional materials. For more information, call 691-8900.
Nominations accepted for Clinical Faculty Award
Nominations are being sought for the Clinical Faculty Award. Dr. Francisco G. Cigarroa, Health Science Center president, initiated the new award to recognize excellence in clinical service provided by UTHSC faculty. All full-time faculty who provide clinical service are eligible.
Nominators will be responsible for completing a nomination packet. Packets will be available beginning Friday, Nov. 16, and must be submitted to the nomination committee by Friday, Dec. 7. Volunteers needed for Science Expo 2001
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to help with this year's Science Expo. Hundreds of high school students, parents, teachers and counselors from San Antonio and the surrounding area will be on campus from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, to learn about opportunities and programs at the Health Science Center.
Assistance is needed with presentations, display tables and general "crowd control." The goal of the expo is to promote the importance of science education and the Health Science Center as a resource for the community.
