Get in step! Help fight arthritis at 2001 Joint Walk

The San Antonio Branch of the Arthritis Foundation will hold A Joint Walk, a community-wide fund-raising event for arthritis research and community programs. Wendy Rigby, medical reporter for KENS 5-TV, will serve as celebrity host.

The 5K walk, set for Saturday, Nov. 3, will begin at the main gate of SeaWorld San Antonio, travel around Sea Lion Stadium, past Shamu Stadium and finish at the Grand Pavilion. For the enjoyment of all, the event also offers a 1K route that is accessible to people with physical challenges associated with arthritis and joint replacement.

Participants can enjoy beautiful park landscaping and walk to music along the way. Energy snacks and cold drinks will be available at Picnic Grove and Penguin Plaza.

Entrants must raise $35 to participate and $75 to receive the official A Joint Walk T-shirt. Walkers receive free, all-day admission to SeaWorld San Antonio. The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases. The foundation is the second leading contributor to arthritis research in the United States. The foundation is currently funding a $90,000 research grant led by Dr. Agustin Escalante, associate professor in the department of medicine.
