Students welcomed to UTHSC, to their chosen professions

Photo of PA group Twenty freshmen in the physician assistant (PA) studies program stand proudly outside the Allied Health/Research Building after receiving their white coats. Members of the PA studies class of 2002 presented the coats to the students during the second annual Frank M. Tejeda Ceremony held Aug. 3. The late Frank M. Tejeda, U.S. representative, was instrumental in the passage of federal legislation that enabled the cooperative program between the UTHSC and the Interservice Physician Assistant Program at Fort Sam Houston. The current PA studies program evolved from that relationship.

Drs. Dave Benesh and Mark Porter of the San Antonio District Dental Society were among the guest speakers.
