Domestic violence topic of Sept. 20-21 conference
The "Frontline Responders: Catalysts for Change in Domestic Violence" conference will take place Sept. 20-21 at the Alamodome. Topics to be covered include "Impact of Domestic Violence on Perinatal Women," "Navigating the Justice System," "Substance Abuse and Domestic Violence," "Intervening with Domestic Violence in Women with Disabilities," "Assisting Young Males to Make Change," "Elder Abuse and Domestic Violence" and many others.
The goal of the conference is to improve community awareness and capacity to respond to domestic violence. Continuing education credits are available to nurses, physicians, social workers and other health care workers.
Cost is $30 for one day and $50 for the two days. The deadline for early registration is Sept. 15. Those who register after Sept. 17 will pay $100.
Sponsors of the event are the SAFE Family Coalition, the SAPD Victims Advocacy Section and the P.E.A.C.E. Initiative.
